Micro-needling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using a device with tiny needles to create micro-injuries to the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural healing response, which includes the production of new collagen.
Collagen is a protein that gives our skin its strength, elasticity, and structure. As we age, the production of collagen decreases, which can result in sagging skin, wrinkles, and fine lines. By creating controlled micro-injuries with micro-needling, the body's natural healing response is triggered, and new collagen is produced in the affected areas.
Micro-needling also helps to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of scars, and minimize hyperpigmentation. The tiny punctures created during the procedure also allow for better absorption of topical skincare products, further enhancing the benefits of the treatment.
How does it work?
Micro-needling works by creating tiny, controlled punctures in the skin. The punctures are created by very fine needles that penetrate the skin to a depth of about 0.5 to 2.5 millimeters, depending on the area being treated.
These micro-injuries trigger the body's natural healing response, which involves the production of new collagen and elastin. A numbing agent will be applied to the skin 30 minutes prior to treatment to provide comfort during procedure.
Immediately after your treatment your skin will look like you have a mild to moderate sun burn. A mild heat sensation can be felt for up to three hours post treatment. Mild swelling may be experienced the following morning with the facial redness at its peak. Skin redness may last from one to five days. By day four skin is just lightly pink with mild sloughing.
You will be given a post procedure kit that will contain all of the nutrients your skin will need to recover including a mild gentle cleanser, stem cells that will help augment collagen production, hydrating cream and a physical SPF.
1-3 treatments are recommended 4-6 weeks apart. For best results, alternate treatments with an Advanced Facial Treatment. To maintain results, incorporate home care products such as multi-vitamin with A,B,C D and E followed with a moisturizer and SPF. Additional nutrients may be suggested for specific skins conditions. Prior to treatment a comprehensive skin care consultation will be provided.
Treatment time: 1.3 hours. Include consultation, pictures, numbing and treatment time.
